[Updated April 2021] Editor’s Note: We’ve updated this list to include all the currently scheduled hairdresser conventions and beauty trade shows scheduled so far in 2021 including some online summits! We’ll continue to update it as more hair shows and beauty events get scheduled. So, pro tip: Bookmark it!
Chances are you didn’t make it to all of the in-person trade events and hair shows that you wanted to last year. Trust us, when we heard Barbercon and the Hair Love Retreat were canceled, we were super bummed, too.
But, lucky for you (and us), there are already some hair and beauty industry events planned for 2021. And since we’re hoping 2021 will be better than 2020, why not start planning like it will be?
Regardless of your business or educational goals, there’s a trade show out there for everyone. We pulled the top conferences in the industry, so you can find the right one for you.
9 Best Hair Shows, Barber Expos, and Beauty Conventions of 2021 (So Far!)
Dates: July 25-26, 2021
Why it’s great: New York, New Yooooork! Remember the International Beauty Show (IBS)? And American Salon? Well, they collab-ed to create this new, iconic event — a combination of beauty trade show and salon expo that’s also ideal for cosmetologists. Get access to early registration, the guest list, and more, if you sign up now.
Dates: March 13-15, 2021
Location: Long Beach, CA
Why it’s great: Still one of the biggest hair and beauty shows of the year, still in Long Beach, CA — just a couple months later than usual. ISSE is currently planned for mid-March. The official line-up isn’t quite up yet, but if it’s anything like last year, it’s going to be the talk of the industry.
Dates: June 20-21, 2021
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Why it’s great: Think you’ll have better luck (or more fun) in Las Vegas? You can attend The Beauty Experience there, instead! (Or, hey, double-down. Start with New York, then head for Nevada.) Spend a few days learning, networking, and testing new products before you have to make any decisions on them.
Dates: September 11-13, 2021
Location: Rosemont, IL
Why it’s great: If you’re looking for a show to celebrate the reason you love your industry with other artists that are equally as passionate, this is the one for you. Everyone in the beauty industry can attend, from salon owners, to cosmetologists, to colorists, to estheticians, and more!
Dates: August 14-16, 2021
Location: Hartford, CT
Why it’s great: Babyliss, Wahl, Gillette, and Barbicide (just to name a few) are sponsoring this barbering expo, so you know it’s going to be good. Not only is it a great opportunity to network with fellow barbers and brands, but you can even enter to compete in a barber battle if that’s your thing. Whether you want to compete or not, it’ll definitely be entertaining.
Dates: One week, official dates TBD
Location: Bali, Indonesia (Yep.)
Why it’s great: Already feel like you have your cutting or coloring technique in your back pocket, so you want to focus more on the business side of the industry? Here’s a super unique opportunity to spend a whole week in Bali with Elizabeth Faye and the Hair Love team to dive into money and finances, social media, branding, and more, all for your business.
Dates: October 17-18, 2021
Location: Orlando, FL
Why it’s great: Giving ISSE a run for its money as the biggest hair show of the year, Premiere Orlando just released its dates for 2021. Since the 2020 show was cancelled, they’ve had two full years to prep and plan for this next one. The bar is set pretty high, but they’ll definitely reach it.
Dates: August 21-24, 2021
Location: Austin, TX
Why it’s great: BTC was another show that was moved to an online platform for 2020, but they’re getting ready to be up and running again for 2021. There will be awards, parties, networking, and education – it’s an all-in-one event that will help you level up your social circle and industry skills.
Dates: September 2020-December 2020
Location: Online! AKA Your own house!
Why it’s great: 2021’s hair trade shows will definitely look different than hairdresser conventions of previous years, but there are some added perks to that: specifically, new online options. That means there’s always a hair or beauty convention near you! If you don’t think you’ll want to start traveling anytime soon, but want to start networking and continuing your education at virtual events, tune in to our very own Town Halls! Every other week, we have a special guest to host a class on industry tips and tricks, from financing, to client support, and more! You even have a chance to win a free iPad during every class. That perk is better than anything we’ve gotten during our old classes!
