This beautiful, complicated city is part of my heart, and I am so excited that I get to practice acupuncture here and do something meaningful in a place that means so much to me. Born and raised in Brooklyn, I came to Oakland with the desire to help others. While working in an administrative position at an acupuncture clinic, I was in awe at how transformative acupuncture could be for physical ailments, emotional imbalances, and spiritual realignment. Working in community acupuncture is important to me because I know how magical it is to heal in a group setting. I escaped the endless fields of dirt and cacti of my home town, Palm Desert CA, to study Sociology in the Rose City, Portland Oregon. After finishing my undergrad where I started exploring herbology, there was a quick trip around the world, a short stint in a Buddhist monastery, and a whole lotta mango lassi; after which I ended up in Santa Cruz, CA enrolled in a Doctorate/Master’s program in TCM, and the rest is history. I am a big fan of accessible healthcare and I believe that reducing barriers to good health can only make the world a better place to exist in. I work at the Laurel / Dimond Clinic. Pronouns: He/Him

I grew up with the Chinese side of my family here in the bay area. From their influence, I came to Chinese medicine for the herbal part and ended up staying for the acupuncture. I am a Bay Area native and loves to spend her time in nature, especially with my nose in a book. During my premed studies, I was drawn to study acupuncture channel theory after receiving a series of acupuncture treatments that left me pain free and fascinated by the body’s innate intelligence to heal. I find joy in assisting others find moments to exist in their liminal spaces, bringing forth the intention of cultivating balance in order to help the body and mind heal from within. I am drawn to the way a needle simultaneously converses with both our physical and energetic bodies, a welcome reminder of how one is inherently affected by the other. Min Thorne received her Acupressure certification at Berkeley’s Acupressure Institute in 2010. She practices an intuitively guided blend of Tui Na, reflexology and gentle Qi balancing work. Her style can be applied in an active and energizing way or in a softer and more nurturing session depending on your needs. Min was originally drawn to the Asian healing arts to counterbalance the long hours and short deadlines of a computer-based career. The deeply restorative effects of the massage and acupuncture she was receiving opened her mind to a new world of possibilities. She now can’t imagine life without it and enthusiastically seeks to share its benefits with any-and-everyone she can. Min works out of our Grand Ave. Clinic on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

I was certified in Swedish massage in 1978, and have been in practice continuously since then. I began to study the Trager™ Approach in 1980, and became a Trager Practitioner in 1991. I continue to deepen my knowledge and experience with Trager, refining my understanding of the interplay of our nerves, muscles, and movements as they interact with our social and psychological conditioning. The Trager Approach touches the person on many levels and helps deepen their awareness of who they are. My approach is gentle, and with my perceptive touch I provide an atmosphere of relaxation, safety, and acceptance. I bring several techniques to my practice, and most recently have begun training in the Upledger style of Cranio-Sacral Therapy (CST). To date I have completed 5 levels of training. I am a certified practitioner in Tui Na (Chinese) Massage, with a background in CranioSacral and Reiki therapies, which extends back to 2002. I have been maintaining a private practice around the Bay Area since 2008. I integrate and adapt these complementary modalities to provide customized treatments that best support each client’s own unique healing process.
