Martt Lawrence
Martt Lawrence

Now in her 23rd year of teaching, Martt Lawrence arrives in Portland after spending over two decades working with dancers, athletes, and students of varying injuries in San Francisco. Her experience working with special conditions such as scoliosis, pregnancy, postpartum women, hip replacements, and osteoporosis has made her a sought- after specialist in her field. Her teaching is informed by her movement experience as a professional dancer with the Houston and Cincinnati Ballet companies as well as a professional modern dancer and choreographer in the SF Bay Area. In January 2006, Martt opened The Pilates Center of San Francisco (PCSF) at the ODC Dance Commons, which thrived under her direction for over thirteen years. Certified in 1996, Martt was re- certified in 2005 by Romana's Pilates TM under the tutelage of Master Teacher Dorothee VandeWalle at Metropolitan Pilates in Seattle.

Paula Maybee
Paula Maybee

Paula Maybee brings her many years of experience as a bodyworker, educator, and athlete to our studio. From her experiences as a competitive gymnast, gymnastics coach, dancer and equestrian to her current 9 year practice as a Licensed Massage Therapist specializing in Pediatrics, Geriatrics and Infant Massage Education. Having had the privilege of working with clients of many ages and needs has allowed her a greater perspective on how to bring the knowledge of movement education and therapy to all that seek it. Whether it be to recover from an injury, increase your flexibility, strength, and balance abilities, or just do something that is new, challenging, and fun to create a continued sense of overall health and wellbeing. As a life long mover, she started applying the Gyrotonic Expansion System® to her own life and quickly realized what a great addition this would be to her therapy practice. Teaching and learning are great passions in her life. Sharing this with her clients

Marissa Rae Niederhauser
Marissa Rae Niederhauser

As a lifelong dancer Marissa has sampled a variety of body conditioning methods. Recovering from a dance related hip surgery in 2012 she discovered GYROTONIC® exercise and with it a new, more nurturing approach to physical training. She feels that Gyrotonic is the most comprehensive training system available and most supportive to the body in it’s natural, harmonious movement pathways. She is passionately curious about anatomy and body mechanics and strives for an empathetic training approach. Her exercise philosophy is that movement is a communion with one’s self, a ritual of adoration for our most prized possession, our primary home, our body. She believes that as our lifelong homes, our bodies' deserve the highest level of respect and care. Client feedback: Marissa brings “…a sophisticated knowledge of functional anatomy... with a compassionate attentiveness to students' comfort. Marissa is both encouraging and precise in her instruction.” -Mindy
