In modern English Satina means “smooth, soft, and delicate”. Although growing up my mother said it meant “sunshine” in an African language. My name is Carla Outlaw, and I am a wife and mother of two. I discovered my passion for hairstyling back in 2007 during my high school years. After completing my studies at Winston-Salem State University, I pursued a career in Health Care Administration. Although I wasn't initially interested in Cosmetology, my true passion has always been focused on natural hair. Unfortunately, at that time, there were no specialized programs catering to natural hair care. However, I firmly believe in the importance of embracing our natural beauty, appreciating our unique qualities, including our hair, curves, and complexion. Today, as a licensed Natural Hair Care Specialist, I specialize in various natural hairstyles for women, men, and children. From 2-strand twists to braids, locs, and cornrows, I offer a range of personalized services. Through consultations, I provide tailored hair care solutions to help individuals achieve healthy and beautiful hair. My ultimate goal is to empower women, especially women of color, to embrace their natural beauty and adopt a hair care routine that promotes long-term health. I specialize in all things natural . (Locs, braids , flat twist , curl cultivation, and a variety of extension installations.) Destinee, a proud Native American hailing from Durham, NC, graduated from Durham School of the Arts with concentrations in 2D/3D media and dance. Later, she pursued physics at North Carolina A&T State University with a minor in Spanish, all while playing on the university's volleyball team. Becoming a mother during her time at NCATSU, she overcame a rare genetic health condition, earning her associate degree in science from Durham Technical Community College. As a single mom, she sought a new passion and enrolled in Elevate Salon Institute for cosmetology. Now, with a consistently maintained cosmetology license in North Carolina, Destinee excels in color theory, corrections, and stays updated on the latest hair trends. Prioritizing "healthy hair comes first," she takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service and looks forward to providing a unique hair experience for her clients.
