Amanda Schmitt is a 2013 graduate of Evansville Central High School where she received first team all-conference honors twice and was voted to the Indiana All-Star team her senior year with third team all-state honors. She holds many pitching records at Central including career wins, season wins, and games started. Amanda took her talents to the next level by playing four seasons at Oakland City University where she was a member of the national championship finalist team in 2016. Her Bachelor's degree in Health and PE along with an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice has landed her a teaching position in special education at Central High School where she is currently the head softball coach. Amanda has given pitching lessons for five years.
We welcome Andrea Beran as a catching specialist and instructor beginning this week. Andrea is a native of Evansville and Harrison High School Alumni. While in high school she earned First Team All State and Evansville Courier Softball Player of the Year. Following High School, she attended and played softball for Southern Illinois University as a catcher. Following her playing days she served as a Student Assistant Coach for the Salukis. She spent the last 2 years as an Assistant Coach for North High School and coaches high school aged travel ball out of Evansville. Andrea has a passion for catching and instructing kids of all ages in helping develop and refine the skills it takes to be successful in their role behind the plate.
Katie (Newton) Riley is a 2013 graduate of Evansville Central High School where she was a three-year varsity starter at mostly catcher and some at third base. She was Amanda Schmitt's catcher for much of her playing career and earned all-conference honors her senior season. Having coached Indiana Matrix and Evansville Stealers travel teams, Katie brings a great deal of knowledge about the game to The Dugout where she has been with us since January 2017.
The Dugout welcomes Tristan Cummings as a baseball pitching instructor. He is a current Oakland City University pitcher and Tecumseh High School graduate. After pitching one season at Rend Lake College, Tristan moved on to OCU where he begins his final season. Tristan was a vital member of OCU's NCCAA World Series team following his high school success which included three sectional titles.
