Abby Chirokas
Abby Chirokas

Abby is an occupational therapist and 200-hour certified yoga instructor. She completed her yoga teacher training in Cusco, Peru and has since been practicing and teaching yoga in New York and virtually for Soul to Soul! For her master's thesis in graduate school, she conducted a qualitative study titled "Phenomenological Reflections of Trauma Survivors on Healing through Yoga" which investigates the effects of yoga in the lives of trauma survivors and the implications for occupational therapy. Her personal yoga practice has strong roots in Vinyasa, which allows her to find meditation through movement. However, she acknowledges that Vinyasa in the United States is often marketed as "power yoga" classes that, for her and many others, move too quickly to really feel into each pose. She has enjoyed slowing down the practice and hopes to help make the parts of Vinyasa that she loves more accessible to others.
