When you are leading a company, especially a smaller one, the foundation it stands upon is what keeps it upright. That foundation should include a purpose or vision, it should include clear goals for the organization, and it should include systems to help you get where you want to go. Now when I say systems I mean neither Information Technology or the Internet of Things; nor am I referring to policies, processes and procedures.
