Courtney Scharneck has been a licensed massage therapist and member of the AMTA since graduating from the Cortiva Muscular Therapy Institute of Watertown MA in 2006. Courtney’s interest in massage began in her teens as a high school swimmer struggling with shoulder pain. Massage was so effective at releasing discomfort and helping with performance she knew by the time she was 17 it was what she wanted to do. Life had other ideas – she went to college, studied history and studio arts, painted houses, waited tables, had thoughts of lawyering – then landed back where she began, at her calling of massage… Upon initiating her move to massage full-time Courtney spent three months in Chiang Mai, Thailand, studying Nuad Bo-Rand Northern Thai Massage at the International Training Massage School (ITM). Returning to her home in the Boston area, she spent several years working for Best of Boston’s Moore Massage before starting her practice in 2009. Courtney’s love of athletics and sports massage have combined in much of her work. Specializing in therapeutic, sports, and deep-tissue work, Courtney pulls from all of her modalities to create specific treatments for each client’s needs, concentrating on muscular tension and pain relief. In 2010 she was asked to work with Cirque du Soleil’s Ovo and has been the go-to massage therapist for all of the shows coming through Boston to date. Since the beginning of her career in 2006, she has had a relationship with Northeastern Men’s and Women’s Track and Field. Throughout her career Courtney has worked with Yale, Harvard, and Brown University Swimming and Diving Teams and Crimson Aquatics, UMASS Boston Track and Field, Northeastern Men and Women’s Hockey, elite marathon runners, The Boston Running Center, The Boston Ballet, Competitive bodybuilders and Bruins Hockey players. Courtney’s work as a massage therapist and her lifelong desire to learn inspired her to complete the 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2016. Adding depth to he
