I have been practicing yoga for 20 years since I started in a prenatal class when I was pregnant with my daughter. I have always wanted to become an instructor but could never seem to find the “right” place for me until I found Holy Yoga. I went from taking a couple of classes, to attending a retreat to signing up for instructor training within the span of about 6 months! As my pastor put it, Holy Yoga combines 2 things you love: Christ and yoga. A little about my personal life. I live in St Louis and have 4 children ages 16-24 (3 boys and 1 girl) I practiced medicine as a Physician Assistant for 25 years primarily in surgical specialties and retired in 2015. I am now working at I Love Juice Bar Ladue and focusing on growing my Holy Yoga ministry. I hope and pray to see you at one of my classes.
Hi! I am Anya and I would love to share my yoga practice with you. I started my yoga journey with hot yoga and instantly fall in love with heat and how my body felt more flexible in a hot room and I felt so relieved of stress after each class. After few years of practice I realized that yoga means much more for me than just class practice, then I went deeper into it during my trip to Russia, where I originally from. I practiced different styles of yoga, and I always enjoy the beauty of breath, power and energy of flow. As soon as I came back to the States, I finished Yoga Six teacher training, and here I am - sharing my practice with students of different age groups, different professions and different levels of flexibility. I honestly love to see how yoga changes people to a better stage of themselves. I believe that everyone has a chance and ability to practice yoga, and that’s my favorite part of it! Everything that includes movement and breath is yoga for me - you can meditate, pra

To anyone who will listen, I tell them Nia changed my life. As a child and young adult, I was playful, full of spirit and boundless energy. Along came college, work, life and I literally faded into the expectations of my profession as an accountant. In order to fit it with my peers, I turned down the dial on my femininity, toned down my personality and became a workaholic. In 1999, I found Nia and loved it from the beginning. KC, the teacher, told us that many folks cry during class. I thought that was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever heard, after all, I was a serious, intense leader. Yep, you guessed it, I cried like a baby, as my body took over and my inner child was invited to come out and play. I became a White Belt in 2012 to deepen my Nia practice. At the time, I had no intention of teaching Nia, but found that I'm called to share the Joy of Movement and the profound positive impact that movement has on living a full, true to yourself, life. As I've deepened my Nia practice, I'

Grace Sandow started her yoga path at Avalon in Sept 2018. After a few injuries and medical diagnoses of autoimmune diseases; she knew she had to start taking care of herself. Grace liked how she felt after the class and that she was reconnecting with her body and mind. When COVID hit a loved one entered recovery in July 2020 and as a person affected by an addiction and dealing with addicts most of her life she entered Gam-Anon. While she was working the steps she recognized how much yoga was always there for her when she needed it. She realized the friends who have always been there for her, many were part of her yoga community. At the encouragement of many and a prompting from the universe; she entered Yoga Teacher Training while also pursuing yoga studies at Avalon and Joy of Yoga in February 2023 under Joy Page and Jill Dunlap of Wildwood Yoga Studios and obtained her 200-hour Certification in September 2023. Before she entered training her goal was to graduate and somehow combine recovery and yoga and bring it forward to the community. During this teacher training and looking to visit other studios she discovered y12SR and started to attend the twice-a-month classes. She was so impressed with this class that in October 2023 she received her Y12SR Spaceholder (leadership) certification under the direct study of Nikki Myers who developed the class. She believes transformation starts with a simple "yes." And it will heal you if you let it. She experienced a start to childhood and adult trauma she had been carrying for decades and still works on herself through yoga and 12 steps every day. Grace wants to present a balanced class in line with those who attend. She loved variations and modifications of Asanas and loves the use of props. She presents a trauma-sensitive class with a gentle guiding spirit that helps you connect to your body and spirit and be present in the moment. For her yoga is about the community and taking time for yourself.
Sarah first discovered yoga in the early 2000s and fell in love with both the physical and mental benefits. After spending decades as a hairstylist, she found herself called back to the practice to heal work-related injuries. It has not only improved her physical strength and flexibility but has been a tool to support her mental health journey. Sarah realized her love for teaching as a haircutting educator. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experiences. In 2023, she decided to combine her love for yoga and passion for teaching, completing her 200-hour YTT through Joy of Yoga/Wildwood Yoga and Wellness. With her compassionate approach to client relationships, she shares yoga as a resource for better physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. She wishes to offer her students a safe place to be seen and heard, as well as help them be connected to mind, body, and spirit. Sarah truly believes that yoga is for everybody.
