Lisa Tobias

Lisa Tobias is a local middle school and high school science teacher with more than 20 years experience. She was taught to sew by her grandmother and has been sewing as long as she can remember. In 2005, she started quilting, which is now her passion.

Karen Hennessy-- Serger
Karen Hennessy-- Serger

An avid seamstress since middle school, Karen Hennessy discovered the serger while constructing skirts and costumes for a local ballet school. This soon led to her construction of elaborate tutus for competition dancers and professional ballerinas. She began teaching Serger Mastery classes for Bernina in 2008, soon expanding into specialty and project classes for this versatile machine. Hating to see any good serger collecting dust on a closet shelf, Karen strives to help students become comfortable with their overlock machines and experts at the many serging techniques.

Nicki Hibbits
Nicki Hibbits

Nicki took her first sewing class when she was around 10 years old and has spent most of her adult life sewing or thinking about sewing. She enjoys all types of sewing...machine, hand, purses, small sewing projects, gifts for others, quilting, clothing, home decor, and the list goes on. After spending 28 years as an elementary school teacher, Nicki retired and combined her love of teaching and sewing to support, empower, and inspire busy people to discover the joy of sewing AND make time to do it. She is super excited to be teaching classes at Abby's Attic and play a part in bringing the joy of sewing to the San Antonio community.
