I began practicing yoga in 2009 after becoming injured while training as a distance runner. After going to nine doctors with no relief, I began to think that I was headed into a wheelchair. That's when a friend invited me to my first yoga class. My initial thoughts were, "I can barely walk, I am overweight & yoga looks too passive to help me." Soon I found out how wrong that my thinking was. Yoga was an unexpected and fun challenge and it healed my feet when traditional medicine did not. After just over two years of practicing yoga, I began teaching and earned the first of many certifications in yoga, breath work & proper body mechanics. Still, wanting to learn more, I read every book that I could about the feet, looking for the answers as to how yoga had healed me. Years later I took a year long training in the B. K. S. Iyengar teaching lineage to learn how to use yoga to reduce pain. I am Yoga Alliance certified RYT 500, E-RYT 200 & YACEP ( Yoga Alliance continuing education provider). I thoroughly enjoy teaching those that have never done yoga before! I currently teach Beginners Yoga, Chair Yoga, Wall Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Meditation & Pranayama. My passion is to help clients fix their pain through yoga and educating students on how to move so that they can age gracefully using proper body mechanics. My mantra of "Crooked bodies Cause Pain!" is often heard in classes as I educate about common misalignments that cause pain in the body. It is my desire to pass on the knowledge that I have learned with compassion for those suffering in pain. My hope is that all who study with me will grow to love yoga as much as I do.
