Appointy: Appointy offers a few different pricing plans, depending on your business needs. They also throw in a little discount if you pay yearly, instead of monthly.

  • Growth: The Growth Plan costs $29.99/month (or $19.99/month if you pay for the whole year), and it only includes one provider/user on the account. You can access additional features, such as payments and unlimited services.

What other scheduling features do they have?

Appointy: From recurring bookings to customizing staff availability, Appointy has quite a few features service providers will love.

  • Set working hours at staff level: You can control business hours and staff availability separately.
  • Flexible time slot intervals: Set regular intervals from five minutes to a whole day.
  • Back-to-back service bookings: Clients who select multiple services for their appointment will only be shown availability where services can be placed back to back.
  • Recurring booking: You and your clients can schedule multiple future appointments for the same service.

Schedulicity: With text reminders, email marketing, and pay-by-text technology, Schedulicity has the tools to take your small business to the next level!

  • Calendar icons: Quickly scan icons to spot new clients, client messages, waitlist requests, and more.
  • Pay-by-text: Our contactless payment technology, Norm, can send the bill directly to your client’s phone to pay for their appointment. Using text or QR code, you never need a card reader again!
  • Client waivers: Create your own liability waiver for clients to acknowledge at the time of booking. This is a great feature for our fitness and health friends.

  • Recurring appointments: Set it and forget it by scheduling recurring appointments for repeat clients.

What are their user reviews like?

Appointy: Appointy has a 4.6/5 rating on Capterra but only a 2/5 when it comes to client payments. While their overall rating is fairly high, they fall short in certain areas, like payments, reporting, and value for the money.

Be sure to visit their full reviews page to see what other businesses love and don’t love about Appointy.

Schedulicity: With 4.5/5 across the board for ease of use, customer service, and value for the money, Schedulicity has a 4.4/5 overall rating on Capterra. The biggest stat? Schedulicity comes in at 5/5 for appointment scheduling and a 4.7/5 for client management.

Who are their competitors?

Since both Appointy and Schedulicity are booking apps built for similar audiences (service providers like hair stylists and massage therapists), they share some of the same competitors. Here are a few to be aware of…

Acuity: Best for well-established salons and other service-based businesses that need advanced and customizable features (including integration with external marketing and financial tools).

  • Like Schedulicity, Acuity also offers a customized booking page, and clients book their own appointments. Self-scheduling is super helpful for busy business owners.
  • Acuity and Schedulicity can both manage multiple locations and service providers, which makes these schedulers ideal for growing salons and spas.
  • Both scheduling platforms offer discounts, deals, and packages to upsell services and products.

Calendly: Calendly is a solid option for basic scheduling. But when you think Calendly, think businesses that hold meetings — not service-based appointments, like salons or barber shops.

  • Set up multiple meeting types, including webinars, one-on-ones, and sales demos.
  • Link up to six calendars per user to keep tabs on availability. (Keep in mind: Only one calendar is allowed on the free plan.)
  • Poll attendees for their availability to find the best time for everyone.

Vagaro: Best for bigger businesses, especially those that use Yelp for a large portion of their business and/or businesses with lots of employees.

  • Vagaro can handle a team of 20 (or 50) as well as multiple locations. This is great for franchise salons and gyms.
  • They offer payroll management and clock-in/clock-out tools.
  • Vagaro also has its own website builder.

So… Appointy Scheduling or Schedulicity?

It’s hard to say. We’re a little biased for Schedulicity, but finding the right scheduling app for you and your business takes a little research. Each booking app is a little different — different features; some more expensive, some less expensive — it’s hard to say which scheduler will be the best fit for you.

So take your time, watch demos, talk to customer support teams, and read through user reviews to get a good sense of what each app offers.

And hey! At the end of the day, go with the app that has the features and tools you need for your business!
