Instagram has done incredible things for the beauty industry. It has allowed us to attract new business with one click.

Sounds easy right? Yes-ish. But with so many users on Instagram (1 billion users to be exact), how do you connect with your perfect client? How do you stand out? How do you engage with potential clients and turn them into real clients?

Here are my top 5 tips:

1. Find your perfect client.

Be sure you identify who your perfect client is and speak directly to them.

If you are a makeup artist that specializes in weddings, be sure you post content that they want to read and engage with. If your perfect clientele is women between the ages of 25-40, share content and photos that highlight your work with captions that speak their language. This is a younger demographic, so your vibe and brand personality has to showcase that.

Your vibe attracts your tribe – in life and in business.  

2. Educate your potential clients.

People want to work with people they know, like, and trust.

When you share content that is educational, it puts you in the position of being an expert in your field. Share your knowledge, such as how-to tutorials and even tips about your favorite products.

If you offer a specialty massage, share some tips on why this is beneficial to them and why they need to have it.

3. Let’s talk hashtags.

YES, you still have to use hashtags in your posts.

You can have up to 30 hashtags for each post. You don’t have to use all 30, however. Use at least 10 that describes the photo, and be sure to add geo-tags in each post.

For example, if you are a hairstylist in Chicago and you posted a photo of a blonde balayage, you would use #chicagohairstylist #chicagobalayage #chicagoblonde #chicagosalon. These are so important.

When a potential client is looking for a new local salon or stylist, these are the # they would use to search you.

4. Use videos.

Add video content into your posting cycle. Instagram is huge on video content right now.

Create professional videos that showcase your work, your personality, and even some of your techniques. This will help you better connect with your audience. I love the INSHOT APP to edit video content.

5. Be consistent.

This is the key to growing your business on Instagram.

If you are looking to aggressively grow your business, I recommend posting at least twice a day. YES I know it’s a lot, but you have to get your name out there consistently in order for people to even think about clicking that “book now button”.

And have no fear. You can recycle your posts from months ago. Just switch up the caption, and there you have it. A brand new post.

Building a business on Instagram is all about engagement. The longer the caption, the better off you will be. Speak from the heart. be real, be authentic, educate your audience, and speak directly to your perfect target clients. Do this with each and every post, and you will be golden, my friends.
