Best Of Schedulicity 2021
Every day, we have the honor to work with some of the best and boldest businesses, and we want the world to know it! So, this December, we’re hosting our first-ever annual Best Of Schedulicity awards — which comes with some major dough.
We wouldn’t be here without dedicated, hard-working businesses like yours. To celebrate all your success, we’re giving out awards for Business of the Year and Start-Up of the Year. Our winners will be given a $5,000 grant each and free Schedulicity Unlimited for a year.
San Diego Community Birth Center
San Diego, CA
Nikki Helms and her team at San Diego Community Birth Center offer a safe, inclusive space for reproductive health, newborn care, and family planning, specifically for BIPOC, the LGBTQIA+ community, asylum seekers, and immigrants.
With only grassroots funding, San Diego Community Birth Center opened its doors during the pandemic to provide birthing and breastfeeding guidance and support, Midwifery care, sustainable farming, gardening, acupuncture, and more.
Electric Lash Lounge
Birmingham, AL
Brigs Abernathy worked overtime during quarantine to earn accreditations for lash artistry while bartending nights and weekends to subsidize her dream.
Within a year, she was nominated for local beauty awards and became one of the most sought-after lash artists in the area. With her infectious best-friend energy and won’t-quit attitude, Brigs became the first lash artist in Birmingham to openly offer service to the trans community, donating a portion of her profits to affirm her mission of beauty for all.
We’re honored to help so many small businesses every day, and it’s an even greater privilege to see them pay it forward. Whether it’s giving back to your community or your clients, we know, at the end of the day, you put the people you love first. That’s why we’re giving these award winners $2,500 each — for simply being the best.
Harbor of Hope Counseling
Berwick, PA
Keith Evans Jr. and his wife, Jeni, provide confidential counseling services, education, training, and crisis response to anyone and everyone in need.
Their HopeSpeaks seminars tackle everyday topics, like marriage and parenting, and provide guidance for tougher conversations, from drug and alcohol recovery to child abuse awareness.
Their new nonprofit, Resurgent Life, sheds light on mental health crises and accessibility and supports local schools by providing assemblies about suicide prevention and awareness. They also create “Safe Spaces” for students to visit when experiencing anxiety or panic attacks.
The Eyebrow Lady
Denver, CO
It’s easy to see why Schedulicity Rockstars fell in love with Zenobia Rivera. Her mission: All humans deserve respect, even if that means something as simple as great eyebrows. Zenobia’s belief that no one is too big, too small, too young, too old, too straight, or too queer is the main reason all humans, including our Rockstars, feel welcome and appreciated.
La Renew Skin Care
Davis, CA
Lisa Lais has been beautifully handling skincare needs in her community since 2008 and loving our pay-by-text tech Norm since 2021. A game-changer for her clients, Norm is the cherry on top of an incredible small business, just like a good SPF is the key to your six-step skincare regimen.
At Schedulicity, we respect the hustle. Whether you’re here to nominate your favorite business or yourself, there’s a Hustler Award for every style of business. These individual award winners will be given $1,000 each.
Harold Mcdonald
Harold the Barber
Round Rock, TX
A single encounter changed the way Harold would barber forever: He discovered the driver behind his young daughter’s fatal hit-and-run was a teenage boy with a dying mother at home. With empathy and motivation, Harold made it his mission to mentor 1,000 young men in one year, one haircut at a time. Collaborating with churches, schools, local entrepreneurs, and nonprofits, Harold continues to inspire and teach –– in and out of the salon.
Kapolei Massage Institute
Honolulu, HI
The Spirit of Aloha is the coordination of the mind and heart, to selflessly emote good and kindness without expectation. Embodying that compassion and empathy are the massage therapists at Kapolei Massage Institute, who strive to help, heal, and honor the Hawaiian community.
They offer affordable practice space for individual massage therapists, and their school offers discounted rates for essential workers and those without health insurance — all with no obligation in return.
Laura Arbios
Sadie’s Pole Studio
Redondo Beach, CA
Laura and her team are dedicated to providing pole dancing classes that make everyone feel good regardless of experience or background. Flow and spin, as you discover how strong you really are. Learn tricks and combos, or book an aerial, stretch, yoga, or HIIT class to ease your way into this new workout.
If you’re looking to break a sweat and do some good, catch Laura at a group event, raising money for nonprofits that benefit the homeless youth in Los Angeles.
Kierst Rabinowitz
Kamo Tattooing
Bozeman, MT
Kierst is a Swiss Army knife when it comes to beauty. This talented artist tackles everything, from microblading and teeth whitening to lip blush and freckle tats.
Kierst’s dedication to empowering women is what makes her Schedulicity’s Beauty Industry Leader of the Year. Each person who nominated her (and there were many!) had a unique story about how Kierst put her clients first — and every one of them made us tear up. With a steady hand, she’s known for her incredible 3D areola tattoos and stretch marks/scar camouflage for women who have gone through birth trauma, breast reconstruction from cancer, and more
Laurie LeCompte
Yoga Baum
Louisville, KY
Last year, many people turned to yoga to help them sit still and regain steadiness in a chaotic world. No one knows how powerful the practice can be quite like Laurie and her all-female team. During the pandemic, they provided virtual and hybrid options to allow every client to prioritize the health of their mind and body. They even offer annual Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Training.
Laurie also paid it forward by donating to The Louisville Youth Group Inc, West Louisville Fresh Produce Fund, Center for Women and Families, the Special Olympics Kentucky Gymnastics and Artistic Gymnastics Teams, and the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital and Currumbin Wildlife Hospital in Australia.
Jo Ann Wilkerson
White Pine Manor
Brazil, IN
Jo Ann’s one-of-a-kind small business does it all. White Pine Manor is a no-charge-to-vendors event space that supports local artists and families. It offers a stunning wedding venue, photography farm, farmer’s market for “kidpreneurs” (children who want to sell their handmade items), and a seasonal Santa’s Workshop.
She also offers classes for ceramics, woodworking, floral design, home decor, horticulture, and art. If that’s not enough, Jo Ann also donates 10% of the profits each month to a different local charity.
